Calculator FAQ

How does the calculator estimate my renovation price?

Each type of work has a 2026 price range (materials and labour) applied to your surface. It is adjusted for the finish range, the condition of the site and the options you choose. The range is deliberately wide: only a quote after a site visit gives a firm price.

6% or 21% VAT: which rate applies?

The reduced 6% rate generally applies to renovation work on a private home older than 10 years. In other cases (recent home, business premises, new build) the rate is 21%. The rate applied is confirmed on the quote.

Why does a small bathroom cost more per m²?

Fixed items (fixtures, waterproofing, plumbing, electrics, finishing tiles) barely shrink with the floor area. A 5 m² bathroom therefore costs more per m² than a 12 m² one.

Is this estimate a quote?

No, it is an order of magnitude. A CULA quote is free, non-binding, itemised and sent within 48 hours after a site visit.

Are there grants to reduce the budget?

Yes, depending on the region and the type of work (insulation, heating, energy renovation). The rules change often: read our grants guide for the Brussels Region, Wallonia and Flanders.
