Uccle is not just any municipality when it comes to renovating a bathroom. Between the villas of its green neighbourhoods, its townhouses and the large 1960s and 70s apartment buildings, every job has its own constraints, and they show up in the price. Here are realistic budgets and what makes them vary.
For a complete turnkey renovation (demolition, plumbing, electrics, waterproofing, tiling, fixtures and finishing), expect the following ranges, including 6% VAT when the home is more than 10 years old:
| Size | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Small (4 to 5 m²) | €12,000 – €16,000 | from €18,000 |
| Medium (7 to 8 m²) | €17,500 – €24,000 | from €28,000 |
| Large (10 to 12 m²) | €25,000 – €35,000 | from €42,000 |
These are orders of magnitude. The final price depends on the state of the pipes, the materials you choose and access to the site, which is why we always quote after an on-site visit.
Houses in Uccle often have larger bathrooms, sometimes a master suite with a walk-in wardrobe. More surface means more tiles, more waterproofing and often a walk-in shower alongside a separate bath. In older houses we also regularly find lead or galvanised steel pipes and cast-iron drains: replacing them is strongly advised and usually adds €1,500 to €4,000.
In the 1960s and 70s buildings (Fort Jaco, Vert Chasseur, Saint-Job…), bathrooms are often small and the water stacks are shared. Before touching drains or stacks you need the building manager's (syndic) approval, and the co-ownership rules often set working hours and require protecting the lift and common areas. Allow for this in your planning.
Parking a van, a skip for the rubble, floors without a lift: in Uccle, access matters. A skip on the public road requires a permit (from the municipality or Brussels Mobility, depending on the road). If that isn't possible, rubble goes out in big bags, which takes longer.
Usually not: redoing a bathroom inside, without touching the structure, the façade or the layout of the dwellings, does not require a planning permit. It's different if you remove a load-bearing wall, create a new bathroom that changes a co-owned dwelling, or work on a listed building. If in doubt, Uccle's planning department will answer you.
For a standard bathroom, count 12 to 18 working days on site: demolition and pipework in the first week, then plastering and waterproofing, then tiling, fitting the fixtures and finishing. Add the delivery time for fixtures and tiles, often 2 to 4 weeks, which we start as soon as the quote is signed.
There is no regional grant for a bathroom in Brussels: the RENOLUTION grants have been abolished. We review the support that remains in our article Renovation grants in Brussels 2027.
Can I keep the bath and add a shower? Yes if the space allows, usually from 7 m². Otherwise, a walk-in shower in place of the bath is the most requested solution (€4,500 to €7,000 for that replacement alone).
Does the next room need to be emptied during the works? No, but we protect floors and access routes, and demolition dust is limited to a few days.
How much does a bathroom cost in an apartment in Uccle? For 5 m² in a standard finish, plan €12,000 to €16,000, plus the time needed to get the syndic's approval if drains have to be changed.
